ARIZONA SENIORS RECEIVE OVER $544,000 IN CULINARY SCHOLARSHIPS
C-CAP awarded $544,824 in scholarships in Arizona in March 2010. Thirty students received scholarships ranging from $1,000 to over $80,000. Johnson and Wales University full-tuition bachelors degree scholarship went to Kelsey Hancock of Wickenburg. Chelsea Edwards received the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institutes national award of over $80,000. In addition, four students received scholarships totaling over $200,000 from the Art Institutes in Phoenix and Tucson. Phoenix Chefs, Barbara Fenzl and Mark Tarbell scholarships of $2,500 each were awarded to a Phoenix and Flagstaff student respectively.
Ruben Brito was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to the Classic Cooking Academy valued at $15,000. Two students received part-tuition scholarships of $14,000 to the Arizona Culinary Institute and one received a $10,000 scholarship to Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Scottsdale.
Other scholarships included the Barbara Colleary Scholarship awarded to Sam Clonts of Tucson and the Beau MacMillan Scholarship to Kordiante Hyler of Mesa. Luke Cornelius of Flagstaff received a ¾ tuition scholarship to the Art Institutes of Denver and the James Beard Foundation Scholarship. C-CAP awarded $28,000 in cash scholarships to thirteen students.
